La maladie de Kawasaki est une maladie inflammatoire infantile caractérisée caractérisée par une association de symptômes dont: une fièvre élevée pendant au moins 5jours, une éruption cutanée, une conjonctivite, une atteinte des muqueuses (angines, langue framboisée), des rougeur et gonflement des mains et des pieds, des ganglions.
C’est une maladie d’évolution souvent favorable lorsqu’elle est détectée et traitée à temps mais dans certains cas elle peut provoquer des complication cardiaques graves, notamment des dilatation voir des anévrismes des artères coronaires.
Le coeur est l’organe qui permet d’envoyer du sang oxygéné aux différents organes. Mais il doit également se nourrir lui même. Il y a donc plusieurs petites artères, appelées, ARTERES CORONAIRES, qui naissent au début de l’aorte pour vasculariser le muscle cardiaque. Ce sont ces artères qui sont bouchées chez les adultes qui font des infarctus. Ce sont ces même artères qui sont touchées en cas d’atteinte cardiaque de la maladie de Kawasaki.
A retenir:
En cas de maladie de Kawasaki, votre enfant doit avoir une évaluation par un cardiopédiatre pour vérifier si ses artères coronaires ne sont pas touchées. Cette évaluation doit être répétée car elle peut être décalée dans le temps.
En cas d’atteinte cardiaque votre enfant suivra un traitement qui peut être de longue durée, pour éviter que des caillots ne se forment dans ses artères dilatées.
