Le souffle cardiaque est un bruit que le médecin entend lors de l’auscultation avec un stéthoscope.
Normalement, à l’auscultation, le médecin entend deux bruits “boum-boum” correspondant à la fermetures des valves. Lorsqu’on entend un souffle, cela correspond à un bruit surajouté aux bruits habituel.
Avoir un “souffle au coeur” ne veut pas forcement dire avoir une malformation cardiaque ! Cela veut simplement dire que le médecin a entendu ce bruit. Il faut en général réaliser une échographie cardiaque pour faire la part des choses et eventuellement faire un diagnostic.
Il existe deux types de souffle:
– Les souffles organiques qui sont dus à des vraies malformations cardiaques. Dans ce cas le bruit est du au bruit que fait le sang dans les vaisseaux quand il rencontre un obstacle, quand il passe par une communication anormale.
– Les souffle fonctionnels, ou “anorganiques” ou innocents sont très fréquents chez l’enfant. Ils ne sont pas dus à des malformations cardiaque. Il s’agit du bruit de la turbulence normale du sang dans les vaisseaux, que l’on entend plus facilement chez l’enfant en raison de l’épaisseur de la paroi thoracique, de la taille des vaisseaux, de la vitesse du sang etc… Quoi qu’il en soit, ils sont bénins et une fois que le cardiopédiatre a éliminé une malformation, il n’y a pas de suivi, pas de précaution particulière car le coeur est bien normal.
